Scope and Contents

The 1987 annual report of the A.J. Muste Memorial Institute, whose Chair at the time was George Willoughby. The Institute committed to nonviolent alternatives to militarization and its primary goals were disarmament, economic and social justice. The document includes a biography of A.J. Muste, the Institute’s financial reports, guidelines to apply for the Institute’s grants as well as recipients of the grants and sponsorships. Other institutions that benefitted from the Institute’s support were the Muste Memorial Library and The Peace Pentagon. The last pages of the document contain a letter to the Institute’s supporters that dates to 1989, written by Executive Director, Murray Roseblith.
