Scope and Contents
This file contains several publications from Neighborhood Women Against Rape, a volunteer organization with a mission of preventing rape on a local level. Included in the file are an open letter to UConn detailing the importance of their mission and how it is accomplished, as well as several editions of their Rape Alert publication, a monthly bulletin describing methods of rape prevention, rape and racism, and more. Topics covered by the latter are different types of locks for windows and doors and a recent march against rape. Also included are two flyers, one advertising self-defense courses for women, the other offering tips on rape prevention. The last two issues of Rape Alert are in Spanish. Preceding these are a letter addressed to an employee of the UConn Special Collections Department, thanking her for her interest and asking for a paid subscription. This letter is dated January 5, 1977. Issues present are Vol. 3, No. 4 (Aug/Sept 1979). The Rape prevention flyer as well as the two Spanish Rape Alerts are dated January 26, 1983.
