Series II: Personal Papers and Correspondence, undated, 1883-1975

 Series

Scope and Contents

Ms. Kellems received considerable correspondence throughout her life and an attempt has been made to maintain those associations with appropriate activities as it was established while she lived. The correspondence that appears to most closely relate to her wide ranging personal interests is listed in this series, although there is similar content in the Political, Real Estate and Business Correspondence portions of the collection. Researchers are recommended to review all correspondence that may be pertinent to their research by date or topic, regardless of its placement in the arrangement of the collection. By 1970, the vast majority of the correspondence is focused on her tax related interests, spurred on by her public appearances, protests regarding tax inequality and legal issues with the Internal Revenue Service.
