Biographical / Historical

The Roselin Manufacturing Company was established in 1921 in New York City by Isidore Rosenstein and William Lintz for the purpose of "manufacturing, buying, selling and dealing in all kinds of braids, trimmings and sundrey articles." The company appears to have been reorganized in 1924 and again in 1931, when the Lintz family was no longer affiliated with the company.

In 1935 the company moved its ribbon weaving operation to 95 Milk Street in Willimantic, Connecticut, and manufactured woven apparel ribbons, or grogain ribbins used for trimming in women's wear. They weaved with cotton (filling) and rayon (warp) to create "gray goods" as well as colored yarn with a solution of dyed acetate for many colors. The company had a sales office in New York City until 1996. The trimming, or ribbons, were sold to jobbers who then sold the products to dress and clothing manufacturers, usually in New York City.

The factory building was severely damaged in the Great New England Hurricane of September 21, 1938, when the storm ripped off its third floor.

Isidore Rosenstein died in 1962 and his son Stanley Rosenstein served as president and general manager of the company from 1963 to 1999. The company closed in 1999 due to lack of business.
