The collection contains audio cassettes, photographs, correspondence, ephemera, notes, publications, memorials pertaining to the artist Cynthia Snow. Most of the material relates to her memorial celebrations, with many personal rememberance notes by her students, friends, and family.

Biography

Celebrated artist Cynthia Reeves Snow was born in North Carolina on October 2, 1906. She was one of five children born to Betty and John Reeves and was educated at the University of North Carolina and Peabody College. After teaching in North Carolina and Florida, Mrs. Snow joined the faculty of the University of Connecticut in 1948. She received dozens of awards in regional and national juried exhibitons and was featured in many one person shows. Her work was included in several international touring exhibits throughout Japan, South America, Mexico, and France. Upon her retirement in 1977, Mrs. Snow moved to Del Mar, California, and continued to paint. In 1985 she was awarded first prize in the Del Mar Centennial Artists' Juried Exhibit. Mrs. Snow continued to exhibit up until 2000. Cynthia Reeves Snow died on May 21, 2001.
