Scope and Content Note

The collection contains administrative records, clippings, correspondence, ephemera, galley proofs, and financial records of Camille Forman and her family. The records encompass the period of 1900 to 2002, and includes numerous documents related to her and her husband's family.

Biography

Camille Lavieri Forman was born in Hartford, ConOctober 10, 1933. She graduated from Weaver High School in Hartford in 1951 and received a BA from the University of Connecticut in 1955. On January 26, 1957, she married UConn Art professor Ken Forman. In 1968, she received an MLS degree from the University of Rhode Island. She was employed as a librarian at the University of Connecticut Libraries until 1991. Beginning in the early 1970s Forman began creating fiber art and exhibiting it. In addition to her individual work, She has collaborated on a number of pieces with her husband.

After retiring from the University of Connecticut Libraries in the early 1990s she and her husband traveled regularly to France, often living in Paris and Provence for several months each year. In 1998, Camille was disabled by a stroke. During her recovery she turned to watercolor painting and writing. In 2001, Camille published her memoir, A Perfect Time for Butterflies.

The records were donated by Ms. Forman in 2003.
