Lee Atkyns Papers
Scope and Content
The collection contains Atkyns' scrapbooks [5], including photographs of his paintings and exhibitions, newspaper clippings, exhibition brochures and programs and professional correspondence. The scrapbooks contain frequent annotations by Atkyns concerning his career, the images, clippings or notices found in the books. Atkyns paintings can be found in the permanent collection of the William Benton Museum of Art at the University of Connecticut.

Biography
Willie Lee Atkyns, Jr. was born 13 September 1913 in Washington, D.C.Atkyns is a painter, teacher and printmaker. A member of the Landscape Club of the Washington Arts Club and other associations, Atkyns was the director of the Lee Atkyns Studio School of Art (Washington, D.C.) from 1950-1975. He relocated to Duncansville, PA in 1975.
