Stallman's research and project files on Stephen Crane. Chiefly photocopies of secondary articles on Crane and of some primary documents. Also includes Stallman's own research notes and correspondence (interspersed), and Stallman's annotated copies of Crane books and reference works.

Robert W. Stallman was born 27 September 1911, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin (A.B. 1933, M.A. 1939, Ph.D. 1942) and was appointed Associate Professor of English at the University of Connecticut in 1949. He was promoted to Professor in 1952 and retired in 1974.
