Esphyr Slobodkina was an artist, illustrator, and children's book author. Materials in the collection are comprised of illustrations, manuscripts, and other documents related to the publication of her works. There are also various materials related to her personal life.
Joseph A. Smith Papers
Joseph A[nthony] Smith, children's author/illustrator and artist received his BFA from the Pratt Institute in 1958 and began teaching there in 1962. Smith continues to teach there in the Department of Painting and Drawing. The collection contains artwork for over thirty children's books.
Burgis Pratt Starr Papers
The collection contains, among other personal papers, a diary documenting Mr. Starr's 1861-1862 travels through Europe and the Holy Land.

Charles Upton was born on December 13, 1948 in San Francisco. He published two volumes of poetry at the age of 19, and despite his relative youth, has been considered a member of the Beat Poet generation ever since. Upton was also involved in peace activism, alternative spiritualities and later in traditionalist metaphysics.

The collection includes family records and materials as well as records of the Wauregan Mills, Wauregan Company, Quinebaug Mill, Wauregan-Quinebaug Company, and Wauregan Mills, Inc.
Leonard Weisgard Papers
The Leonard Weisgard Papers document the creative processes of this award-winning author and illustrator, with his book art, commercial and promotional illustration, correspondence, and an extensive reference material series. The collection was donated in 2009 by Weisgard's children, Abigail, Christina and Ethan, all of whom reside in Denmark.

Randolph W. and Beatrice H. Whaples Papers
Randolph W. Whaples and Beatrice C. H. Whaples graduated from Connecticut Agricultural College in 1927. Mrs. Whaples returned to the University of Connecticut in the mid 1950s and was awarded an M.S. degree in 1957. The collection contains course notes, assignments, papers, quizzes, examinations and similar materials related to the academic career of the Whaples.
